I believe it is HELPING to confuse, at least, the minds our children nowadays! Their young minds don't know how to process the vast amounts of information & temptations that are available on the internet. The majority of the blame falls heavily on the shoulders of the parents / guardians, but the internet is definitely not helping any. Because kids can hear a word or phrase, and can easily go look it up on the internet, and sometimes it not necessarily things kids should be learning about or seeing. But the poor educations these kids get nowadays, and how everything is made so that don't have to think, is also a part of the "dumbing-down" of today's youth!

Or that's my opinion, anyways.

kids are dumb today because so many are dropping out of school, the dropout rate in California is around 50% at some schools. I know some of the schools here are really bad and I don't blame kids for hating to go to class but you need at least a HS education these days.
I tell kids to stay in class and hang in there, it sucks but just do it. I did not like school either.

Try Netflix.

It runs for $ 8 a month, and has a lot of movies, although not current, today's movies. You can watch the movies on your computer monitor, or use another means.

I just got it and also ordered a Roku to go with it, which makes it easy to watch television from my chair. I just turn on the tv, put it on the channel where the Roku is installed, and I get Netflix movies instantly.. I can stop, rewind, and watch over any time.

Roku also offers other like Hulu, Amazon on Demand (pay) and others.

But for $ 8 a month, I can watch two or three (or more, if I have time) movies a day, and that is worth way more then $ 8. Try renting 60 movies a month for $ 8. You can't do it.

I could have used my computer to watch these movies, but that meant keeping my computer on all the time I was watching it, so I got the Roku XDS, which costs $ 99, but has more to offer then the Roku HD, which costs $ 59. And the movies are High definition, so my HD television works like watching a DVD.

You just hook up the Roku to the internet, it plugs into one of the ethernet plugs ( if you want, you can use the wireless connection). And so, your computer is not on, but you can watch movies from the internet anyway. And the Roku comes with a remote control, so you can sit back and change movies, turn it on or off, stop the movie, go back a ways, or whatever.

It did cost me Over $ 100 to get the Roku (with taxes and shipping), but is was worth it.

But... you do not need the Roku to watch if you want to just use your computer... you can. still $ 8 a month.

1280x1524 ??? wide screen (or tall screen) eh???? not 1280x1024???
if you are programmer or work in wallstreet, then you should maximize you computer resolution, because you need more 'space' to see all your code and form, if you are regular guy, i think 1280x1024 is standard size for you, beside that, 19" LCD who have resolution more than 1280 it's too expensive :) It's not like CRT, every inch mean more pixel.

Certainly set it to the max resolution. In the "displays" control panel there is a setting to enlarge desktop icons. Windows that you open can fill the screen and the content in them usually will look better. However, there are websites out there that need lower resolutions to display correctly, otherwise the content may appear garbled or missing/out of place. Other than that, you should do a full color calibration using blue lenses (can be acquired through THX for free, just pay shipping). You will need a source of color bars, etc. to calibrate the settings. The monitor SHOULD come with the stuff you'll need to accomplish all this stuff. The "Auto Calibration" is usually junk, as it has no real point of true-to-life reference as blue lenses/glasses can provide. Be sure the brightness and contrast are set correctly also. The most common problem I see with these settings is that people set them too high. Yes, it makes the images on screen more eye popping, but can deteriorate picture quality, and wear out the LCD faster. Email me if any further Q's. lallen3@stx.rr.com

I believe everyone should have some type of anti-virus protection, i recommend AVG Free, it has lots of updates and doesn't require a lot of system resources and it has a resident shield for real time protection.

Try the website http://www.hulu.com/ and download/update every thingg they tell you to, it's aCommerciall website and will not have any viruses. I have been using it for quite some time and i have had no problems with it. Flash is really the only thing you need to view most website's videos it's currently on version 10 so you'll need to update that too.

Unfortunately, reporting is all that you can do, really. Educating other users to join you in your quest would be useful, since it often takes more than one report for something to get done. You might want to stick to reporting the questions, since when they are removed, the answers automatically go with them. Or you can "list" report -- report the question, write SPAMBOT / MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS in the text box and post a LIST of links to each of the bot / sockpuppet accounts so they all (hopefully) get hit.

I don't think YA will implement a CAPTCHA, unfortunately, as this may be too annoying for the legitimate Level 1 users and lose the site such new users. The staff have made Level 1 link postings inactive, which you would think would slow down the spammers a bit, but it does not seem to. Maybe they don't even KNOW that is the case. The staff say they can't IP block, either. So it is up to us, the dedicated, diligent few!

There are a couple of places online where you can watch Internet TV online... The best thing about these websites is that they can also be watched outside of the United States. http://wwitv.com is one of them which offers its services for free. There are also many other websites that offer channels like ESPN, HBO etc. for some money.
